Nemacolin Woodlands Five Alarm Mountain Madness Festival Is Back
Farmington, PA (May 12, 2011) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is once again hosting the Five Alarm Mountain Madness Festival. In just its second year, this event has been designated a Regional Cook-Off by the (ICS) International Chili Society. The festival is slated for June 11 at the luxury resort southeast of Pittsburgh. The Five Alarm Mountain Madness Festival will be staged at the Adventure Center and benefit the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department.
“At Nemacolin Woodlands, we are fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive community and selfless volunteers who help safeguard our property and more importantly, our associates” said Chris Plummer, resort General Manager. “Last year, we organized the inaugural festival to show our appreciation, raise money for the Fire Department and provide a fun event for residents. The 2010 festival was very well received and raised significant funds for the Farmington volunteers so we immediately began planning this year’s event. ”
The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Sam Adams Shootout. This 50 target competition will be held at the resort’s Field Club with the winners being announced at the Chili Cook-Off. At 10:30 a.m., the traditional “Lighting of the Stoves” begins the official competition as cooks from throughout the United States compete for cash prizes in three categories: Red Chili, Chili Verde and Salsa as well as vying for the opportunity to advance to the World’s Championship. Local residents are also invited to test their culinary skills in the Community Chili Cook-Off held each year in conjunction with this event. In addition to the Chili Cook-off and tasting, guests can enjoy a wide array of activities throughout the day.
Admission to the Five Alarm Mountain Madness Festival is free of charge. Tasting kits are available for $5.00 with all proceeds being donated to the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department and Nemacolin Woodlands is offering its All Access Adventure Pass at a special festival rate. FROGGY Radio will broadcast live during the event and guests will have the opportunity to meet their favorite radio personalities. Live entertainment will be provided by The Girlz in Black Hats and local favorites, More Bad News. A craft fair and beer tasting round out the festival offerings.
