The Fatbird logo was adopted because it captures the spirit of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. A rare bird indeed, "Fatbird" is a delightful image and was personally selected by Maggie Hardy Magerko, owner and president. In Maggie’s words, “Fatbird is fun and whimsical, just as are the expectations of our guests. They come to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort to relax in an atmosphere removed from the rigors of everyday life.”
The charming logo for Nemacolin Woodlands Resort grew from a series of inspirations, but it was a Fernando Botero sculpture, "Little Bird," located at the resort entrance and part of the impressive Hardy Family Art Collection, that gave the logo its new wings.
The Fatbird, which has become the symbol for Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, is available for purchase in many gift forms. From our stuffed Fatbirds of all sizes to our crystal, glass, resin and bronze Fatbirds, all are one-of-a-kind collector’s pieces, which allow you to take a piece of Nemacolin spirit home with you!
