Ski Season Starts This Weekend At Nemacolin Woodlands

Slopes open a week ahead of schedule; 100% operational

Farmington, PA (December 5, 2007)
— Mystic Mountain at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort opens for the winter ski season on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 – one week ahead of schedule and 100% operational for skiing and snowboarding. The facility is open to the public, and ski enthusiasts do not have to stay overnight at the resort to enjoy the wide array of offerings.

“We are really excited that Mother Nature is working with us this time around,” says Jon Pitcavage, director of activities at Nemacolin Woodlands. “We’ve had a solid snowfall since Sunday (Dec. 2), and have added to that by running our snowmaking system 24 hours a day. This early in the season, to be fully operational for skiing and snowboarding on all slopes and trails shows promise for a very strong ski season.”

Mystic Mountain is a 25-acre, complete winter sports complex offering downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing and snow tubing on ten slopes and trails. The mountain is serviced by three lifts: a quad chair, a beginner tow, and a surface lift in the snow tubing park. Additional offerings include equipment rental, a ski retail shop, ski and snowboarding lessons, and the Snow Monsters snow camp for children (ages 4 to 12). Night skiing is also a popular offering, with the slopes completely illuminated and reduced pricing offered on passes and rental equipment. The mountain is one of the most beginner-friendly ski mountains in southwestern Pennsylvania, with a gentle vertical drop of 300 feet.
