Mystic Rock Pro-Am Features PGA Tour, NFL, MLB and NHL Celebrities

Charity golf tournament benefits Community Foundation of Fayette County

Farmington, PA (June 4, 2007)
— Sports celebrities from the arenas of football, golf, baseball and hockey test their skills on one of Pennsylvania’s most challenging golf courses for the inaugural Mystic Rock Pro Am on Monday, June 18 at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. PGA TOUR 84 Lumber Classic Champions Jason Gore and J. L. Lewis return to Mystic Rock as part of the twenty celebrities taking part in the event. Other stars scheduled to play include Pittsburgh Steelers Brett Keisel, Jerame Tuman, Jeff Reed and Charlie Batch; plus numerous Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins alumni. FOX National Radio host, Steve Czaban, of First Team with Steve Czaban will broadcast live from Nemacolin the morning of the tournament.

Benefiting the Community Foundation of Fayette County, the tournament is a 4-person shamble format. Each team features one celebrity and three amateur golfers. Registration costs include the Pairings Party on Sunday, June 17, overnight room accommodations at Nemacolin, a continental breakfast, greens fees and the Awards Dinner. Each team member will receive a pin flag autographed by their team celebrity, framed along with a team photo.

Team and individual player slots for the Mystic Rock Pro Am are still available. Contact Bob Garrett with the Community Foundation of Fayette County at 724-437-8600 for pricing and sponsor opportunities. The public is invited to watch the tournament at no charge.

Since 1999, the Community Foundation of Fayette County has been promoting philanthropy and community improvement in Fayette County by attracting, managing, and distributing charitable resources. By connecting people who care with causes that matter, the Foundation serves as a catalyst for addressing a wide variety of problems and concerns. The charity organization manages millions in donations, scholarships and foundation funds for 62 agencies, and distributes hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to Fayette County non-profit organizations and programs.

  • Dwayne Woodruff – Two-time Super Bowl Champ/Pittsburgh Steelers alumni
  • Robin Cole – Two-time Super Bowl Champ/Pittsburgh Steelers alumni
  • Bill Mazeroski – Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Fame, 1960 World Series hero
  • Steve Blass – Pittsburgh Pirates Broadcaster and 1971 World Series hero
  • J.S. Aubin – Pittsburgh Penguins alumni/current Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Francois Leroux – Pittsburgh Penguins alumni
  • Dave Hansen – Former professional hockey player and star of the movie “Slapshot” (one of the Hansen brothers)
  • Ed Johnston – Former Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager (drafted Mario Lemieux)
  • Joe Mullen – Pittsburgh Penguin alumni – NHL Hall of Fame - first US-born player to score 500 NHL goals
  • Warren Young – Former NHL All-Rookie team member
