Nemacolin Woodlands Resorts To Open Woodlands Animal Care Center

Farmington, PA (November 16, 2009) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort today announces the opening of Woodlands Animal Care Center, a full service veterinary care facility.  This latest offering reinforces Nemacolin’s commitment to being a Pet Proud Resort.  Woodlands Animal Care Center will serve the region as well as resort guests traveling with pets.

On November 21, 2009, Woodlands Animal Care Center will host an opening celebration with activities and contests throughout the day.  Guests and area residents are encouraged to visit the Center for facility tours, complimentary photos with their pets, entertainment and the chance to win valuable prizes.  Pet food donations collected during the day will benefit the local Humane Society and sales of hot dogs and beverages will support the Dachshund Rescue of North America.

“We have over 20 years of experience taking exceptional care of our guests at Nemacolin Woodlands and we are using that same caring philosophy to establish an excellent medical facility for your beloved pets,” said Joseph A. Hardy, Founder of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.

Woodlands Animal Care Center will serve as a complete hospital, canine rehabilitation facility and training center led by Stephanie Shepherd, DVM.  Dr. Shepherd received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University.  She explains that the facility will focus on the Human Animal Bond in all realms of treatments including pet wellness screenings, preventive medicine, dental care, routine surgeries, geriatric medicine and more.  Rehabilitation programs feature unique therapies using a canine underwater treadmill and a therapeutic whirlpool all contained within a 5,000 square foot training and rehabilitation center.

The Woodlands Animal Care Center is conveniently located next to another of the Resort’s pet amenities, Nemacolin Wooflands, a pet resort and spa located on Route 40 in Wharton Township.  This 36 room dog lodging facility, spa and cattery offers 30 standard kennel rooms and six themed “Luxury Suites” replete with flat screen televisions and comfortable beds.  Pet guests of the suites also receive turn down service and a bedtime treat.  Nemacolin Wooflands also offers an array of grooming and spa services for pets including massages, facials, hot oil treatments and hydrotherapy.  Ample play and exercise areas including a courtyard, social room and enclosed outdoor play facilities ensure that every pet is treated to a stay tailored specifically to their needs.
