Nemacolin to Host a Party on the Snow – February 8
WinterFest to feature a mix of past and new event favorites
Farmington, PA (January 23, 2014) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s annual WinterFest celebration returns to the Laurel Highlands region Saturday, February 8, 2014. This
all-day event will take place at Nemacolin’s Mystic Mountain and will feature many popular event favorites such as the Polar Bear Golf Classic and Polar Bear Plunge, as well as offer new activities from a Meet & Greet with the resort sled dogs to a variety of on-snow competitions, including the resort’s first trick style event at the new Terrain Park, which opened December 20.
“At Nemacolin, we welcome new and exciting ideas that enhance our resort offerings, and we take that same approach when planning our special events,” explains Chris Plummer, General Manager of the luxury resort southeast of Pittsburgh. “This is the twelfth year for WinterFest, so we felt it was important to provide our guests and the local community with some new elements.”
Some of these new additions include a Wacky Olympics family teambuilding, an ode to the 2014 Winter Olympics’ opening weekend, daylong outdoor DJ Entertainment provided by Rock The House Entertainment from Cleveland, Ohio and on-site giveaways provided by Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin.
On-snow competitions make up the main event with the return of the Polar Bear Golf Classic on The Links and the chilling Polar Bear Plunge, where guests don their best costumes and take a quick dip in the snowmaking pond to receive a complimentary lift ticket and rental for the day. Guests 21 years and older can take part in the Out Cold Race, where participants race down the mountain with steins of beer, competing to return to the top with the liquid still intact. A new rail jam event, the “Funky Slopestyle Competition,” has been added to the agenda, featuring Bob McLaughlin from Pittsburgh’s 105.9 FM, The X as a guest judge.
The festivities will conclude with contemporary Celtic sounds from Pittsburgh’s Bastard Bearded Irishman, who were most recently recognized in ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine as a “Band to watch from Pittsburgh” (Sept ’13).
