“BREAST WEEKEND EVER” BREAST CANCER RESEARCH EVENT RETURNS TO NEMACOLIN WOODLANDS RESORT
Over $50,000 has been raised through resort efforts
FARMINGTON, PA (September 4, 2015) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort once again is inviting guests and the local community to join their efforts in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The weekend of September 11 - 13 will mark the fourth year of the Breast Weekend Ever event, which has raised over $50,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer since 2012. The weekend will include a Golf Scramble, 5K Walk and Run and luncheon event.
“Our Breast Weekend Ever event continues to flourish due to the overwhelming support by resort guests and the local community,” explains Elaine McKulka, resort Retail Director. “This annual event strives to bring awareness and raise funds for a cause that many can rally behind.”
The weekend will kick-off on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with a Golf Scramble on The Links Golf Course. Prizes for best and worse golfers will be awarded. New for this year’s event, golfers are encouraged to compete in the Pretty in Pink golf cart decorating contest, with a prize being awarded. Mike Wood Toyota of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, will also sponsor a hole-in-one car giveaway.
On Saturday, the event really picks up momentum with the first annual Breast Dash Ever 5K Walk and Run. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a 9:00 a.m. race start time. The 5K start and finish will begin and end at the resort’s Sundial Lodge.
The highlight of the weekend is the luncheon, which will take place on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the resort’s Marquis Ballroom. Festivities will include a Pink Ribbon Bingo and silent auction. Michelle Wright, WTAE-TV Morning Anchor will act as emcee for the afternoon.
A portion of all weekend events and retail sales at Nemacolin’s Heritage Court Shoppes will be donated to the foundation. Advanced reservations and ticket sales are available and highly encouraged.
