6TH ANNUAL FIVE ALARM MOUNTAIN MADNESS CHILI COOK-OFF RETURNS
Sanctioned food event to benefit the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department

Farmington, PA (June 4, 2015) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is once again hosting the Five Alarm Mountain Madness Chili Cook-Off and BrewFest on Saturday, June 13th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Designated as a Regional Cook-Off by the (ICS) International Chili Society, the Mountain Madness event will welcome cooks from across the country as they compete in Red, Verde and Salsa categories, as well as community competitors, local area restaurants, breweries and craft vendors. In its sixth year, Mountain Madness has raised over $30,000 for the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department.

Although the chili cook-off is the highlight of the event, Mountain Madness will also include a BrewFest featuring local and regional breweries, a craft fair, family adventure activities, live entertainment by The Delaney’s and the legendary Joe Gruscheky and the Houserockers. Celebrity Judges will include Pittsburgh Steelers Cameron Heyward, Shaun Shuisham and Arthur Moats.

The traditional “Lighting of the Stoves” marks the start of the official competition as cooks from throughout the United States compete for cash prizes as well as vying for the opportunity to advance to the World’s Championship. Local residents are invited to test their culinary skills in the Community Cook-Off held in conjunction with this event. Festivities will also include a Restaurant Division in which local chefs and businesses can compete for prizes and more importantly, bragging rights. In addition to the Chili Cook-Off and tastings, guests can enjoy a wide array of activities throughout the day.
The Five Alarm Mountain Madness Festival will be centered near the resort’s Sundial Lodge. Guests may take advantage of the resort’s Adventure Center activities, including the popular 3,000 foot Fatbird SuperFlyer dueling zip line, with the purchase of a specially priced $25.00 per person All-Access Pass. Admission to the Five Alarm Mountain Madness Festival is free of charge. Chili Tasting Kits are available for $5.00 with all proceeds being donated to the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department and $20.00 for BrewFest Tasting Kits, which include the Chili Tasting Kit. A portion of Brewfest revenues and various raffles throughout the day will also benefit the firemen.
