Statement of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort:
December 12, 2015 -- Yesterday at approximately 2:15 p.m., a single-engine airplane leaving Nemacolin’s airfield crashed after takeoff in a private residential area bordering our resort’s golf course.
Officials have confirmed two fatalities and one injury, with the injured party being airlifted to a Pittsburgh area hospital.
Again, our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by this tragic event.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no public access to the crash site. No cause has been currently identified. Nemacolin is working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, as well as local authorities, who will provide additional details as they become available.
We want to thank all the area's first responders and emergency personnel for their hard work and prompt response to this tragedy.
Nemacolin has been operating an airfield on its resort since 1987. Our private airfield is of private usage, subject to prior approval and reservations made with the Security Department of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
We will continue to update the public on this accident as appropriate.

There are reports of fatalities, but we have no official confirmation of damages, injuries or fatalities. We are working with first responders and will provide more information as soon as it is available.
There is no public access to the crash site as fire and public safety officials continue their work.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by this accident.
