NEMACOLIN RELEASES 6,000 YEARLING TROUT IN THE YOUGHIOGHENY
$10,000 Raised in Annual Benefit Event

Farmington, PA (May 21, 2015) – The Orvis® Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Field Club recently released 6,000 yearling trout into local waters to benefit the Middle Youghiogheny trophy trout waters. On March 29, 2015, Nemacolin’s hosted its annual Stock The Yough sporting clay benefit event and raised $10,000 towards such efforts. This is the second year Nemacolin has followed the lead of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) with stocking the Youghiogheny River with six to nine inch yearling trout.

“This fundraiser originated from being fishermen ourselves,” said Matt Grobe, Director of Activities at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. “We utilize these waters through our Orvis® Endorsed Fly Fishing programs at the Resort and believe these yearling trout have a much better chance of survival than the typical fingerling which are less than six inches.”

Members of the Nemacolin Field Club and Activities teams were joined alongside staff from Orvis Pittsburgh, all of whom volunteered their time last week to stock eight sections of the Middle Youghiogheny with the yearling trout that were purchased from the fundraising event. Nemacolin’s Field Club is planning a spring 2016 Stock The Yough event, with the proceeds continuing to benefit the stocking of local waters. Over $20,000 has been raised in total towards restocking efforts. Information regarding this event will be forthcoming. Nemacolin would like to thank Orvis Pittsburgh, Wilderness Voyagers and Laurel Highlands Guide Service for their contributions to the Stock The Yough events.
